Why is Kerala so orthodox?

‘When you are in Rome be like a Roman’
I am Catholic(Syo Malabar), since it is about Kerala and its culture I am answering.
When you go to a place of worship you need to dress decently. In church, mosque, temple this law applies. In Kerala Temples have a dress code, which is unique.
Hinduism is a religion which is interwoven with culture. You cant expect uniformity as the culture varies from place to place. Kerala has its own unique culture, people here men and women follow it.
It will be much easier if could follow the rule of the land rather than ask everyone else to change.
Sex ratio in Kerala is the highest in India 1084:1000.
The number of misogynists are much less when compared.
(Even Churidar is a North Indian dress which gained acceptance in last 20 years)
