Is it true that knowledge always beats intelligence?

In my opinion Practice makes perfect, ie the average guy may win the argument. The knowledge which he has will give him an upper hand.

It is about attitude than about intelligence that is determinant.

• Fluid intelligence which is the ability to solve new problems, use logic in new situations, and identify patterns.
• Crystallized intelligence which is the ability to use learned knowledge and experience.

In one of the most extensive studies carried out, research found that out of 210 gifted children followed into later life, only 3% were found to fulfil their early promise. This makes it clear that intelligence can often go useless. It is our thinking pattern which is crucial. This is well explained in the parable of The talents.

The Parable of the Talents

A rich man delegates the management of his wealth to his servants, much as investors in today’s markets do. He gives five talents (a large unit of money) to the first servant, two talents to the second, and one talent to the third.

Two of the servants earn 100 percent returns by trading with the funds, but the third servant hides the money in the ground and earns nothing. The rich man returns, rewards the two who made money, but severely punishes the servant who did nothing.(Matthew 25:14-30)

The Parable of the Talents teaches that

• Success is a product of our work.
• We are not all created equal.
• Everyone has talents but not everyone uses their talents. A talent is useless unless it is used.

If an intelligent person is lazy and he does nothing to empower himself he will be a failure. It is like Lamp under a bushel. An average person on the other hand might flourish out of his hard work.

If an intelligence person works hard, there be nothing to stop him. A combination of talent and knowledge is unmatched. Most of the great innovations which we see around us are from such genius.
