Do many people hate their countries?

hort answer: I am an Indian and I Love my country. Most citizens love their nation.
If a person hates his own country, it is something like(pic)
But it may not be the case always because "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter,"
Eg: Indian independence movement, American Revolution
This happens due to the feeling that they don’t belong here which could arise due to various reasons. It is the WE feeling that binds us all together, once it is lost the feeling of patriotism evaporates.
  1. Take the example of India or US we have different ethnic groups, religions, sects, cultures etc. It is the feeling of oneness that binds us.
  2. Almost all freedom struggles were seen as anti nationalist.
  3. Ex patriots often condemn their own nation
  4. If there is enmity between different groups within a country chances are high. It is often majority versus minority clash. Things may go in favor of a particular group(majorities). If at all nothing like that is happening people feel that their interests are crushed.
  5. In theocratic countries often extremist groups with in may fight for their ideas to be imposed on the rest.
  6. Certain fundamentalists might feel that rest of the religions should be banned; secular country should not exist etc. This leads to mutual hatred.
  7. Tribes in various countries have their own world, the idea of country is at times alien of them.
Things fall apart when the centre cannot hold.
